St Martin de Pores (1597-1639) was noted for his work on behalf of the poor, establishing an orphanage and a children's hospital

He maintained an austere lifestyle, which included fasting and abstaining from meat.

He is the patron saint of social justice, racial harmony and mixed-race people.

We pray to St Martin for all charity, but especially those who are sick, afflicted and those who are victims of social injustice.

Let us pray, O God, who did make St. Martin, your confessor, to enter the heavenly Kingdom, grant through his merits and intercession that we may so follow the example of his humility on earth as to deserve to be exalted with him in Heaven.
