Attendance & Punctuality

At our school, we expect every child to attend every day and to arrive on time, ready for learning. Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for children’s progress, wellbeing and long‑term success. When children miss school or arrive late, they miss valuable learning time, disrupt their routines and can find it harder to keep up with their classmates. Good attendance builds strong learning habits, supports social and emotional development, and helps children make the most of every opportunity school offers. Working together with families, we are committed to ensuring every child benefits from full, punctual attendance.

If you have any questions about attendance or absence, please do not hesitate to contact us

The school has strengthened attendance through robust policies and procedures, providing targeted support for pupils and their families. This approach has had a positive impact on pupils attending school regularly and on time.

Ofsted January 2025

The school day

The core school day is from 8.50am -3.30pm. Children may arrive from 8.40am when the school gates open. We have a breakfast club from 8.00-8.40am and an after-school club from 3.30-6.00pm. Contact the school office for more information on breakfast and after-school club places.

Reporting an absence

If your child is unable to attend school, please contact the school office on the morning of the absence. When leaving a message, include your child’s full name, class, the reason for the absence, and the expected date of return.

If an absence lasts more than five days, the school will require medical evidence from your GP to authorise the continued absence.

Medical absence from school

If you are unsure whether your child is well enough to attend school, helpful guidance is available on the NHS website. The NHS provides clear advice on common childhood illnesses and when children should stay at home or are well enough to come to school. We encourage parents and carers to check this guidance when making decisions about attendance.
