Each week we have a 'Composer of the Week' that the children across the school learn about and listen to as they come into school in the morning.
We choose composters from across the world, from the past and present who represent many different musical influences and genres.

Anna Meredith - Bumps Per Minute
Bumps Per Minute is a full-throttle reinvention of the traditional fairground dodgems, from Mercury Award-shortlisted composer, producer and musician Anna Meredith. It is part of the DODGE installation, which can be experienced until 22nd August at Somerset House, London: http://annameredith.plctrmm.to/BPM For Bumps Per Minute, Meredith has collaborated with BAFTA-winning sound artist Nick Ryan to design a bespoke tracking technology so that every thump, bump and swerve of the 18 dodgems around the track can trigger a separate composition.

Jean Sibelius - Finlandia
Finlandia, Op. 26 is a symphonic poem by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. The first version was written in 1899, and it was revised in 1900. The piece was composed for the Press Celebrations of 1899, a covert protest against increasing censorship from the Russian Empire, as the last of seven pieces, each performed as an accompaniment to a tableau depicting episodes from Finnish history.
